Extra Credit

By next class, pick up a copy of the Argonaut or Evergreen.
Edit three stories for clutter, redundancies, loaded words, opinion, grammar mistakes, spelling mistakes, etc.
You could retype the stories (but that would take too long), so mark the deletions/changes on the original, cut them out, staple them and submit. Put your name at the top.
Do not use opinion pieces or columns for this assignment. They include opinion by design.

When it's due: Monday (Jan. 28) at beginning of class
What's in it for you: 5 extra credit points.

ALSO: If your major is "undecided" but you intend to declare a Journalism and Mass Media field (journalism, public relation, advertising, etc), please let Karin Clifford know. She's the JAMM secretary on the third floor of this building. Declaring the major will make getting classes you need easier, and also gives you access to the JAMM advisers, who can better help you figure out what classes to take. Sorry, there are no extra credit points for declaring a major.

Chap. 2: Grammar skills to master (part 1)

The good stuff: Students, these are the nuts of knowledge I expect you to master from Chap. 2.
Have grammar issues? Help with grammar basics and common mistakes can be found at the links to the right.
Hey, I agree. Grammar isn't always fun, but the skills are fundamental to writing well.
